MENALINKS – Renewable Energy Integration

Linking ambitious renewable energy development and efficient sector coupling in the MENA region.

MENALINKS drives the transition toward sustainable energy by accelerating renewable energy integration in the MENA region. The project promotes sector coupling, innovative business models, supportive financing, and education mechanisms — all aimed at reducing fossil fuel dependence, enhancing system flexibility, and advancing national climate targets.

MENALINKS is led by Guidehouse Germany GmbH and is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) supports this initiative based on a decision by the German Bundestag.

Objectives

The project’s mission is to strengthen renewable energy integration in five partner countries through sector coupling across electricity, transport, industry, and buildings. MENALINKS aims to work closely with local stakeholders to improve regulatory frameworks, build technical capacity, foster regional cooperation, support innovative pilot projects, and business models.

Target Groups

This programme addresses policymakers, regulators, grid and infrastructure operators, technology providers, project developers, financial institutions, universities, and vocational schools, as well as civil society with a focus on gender inclusion.

Activities

Through a mix of international exchange, professional training, and academic collaboration, MENALINKS offers diverse learning experiences such as study tours in Germany, a complete eLearning programme, university partnerships, and trainings held within partner countries.
